Especially during the holidays, St. Matthew's supports a number of events focused on the local community, including:
Easter Basket Food Share Program 2021
St. Matthews is making Easter “baskets” filled with non-perishable food, toiletries and other supplies to distribute to needy families in our community. It is sad to say but many families in Sterling and our surrounding communities worry about having enough food to eat on a daily basis. Your donated groceries and gift cards can provide real assistance to help those in need.
There are 3 ways you can volunteer to help:
Make your own basket: Pick up empty shopping bags from St. Matt’s (optional), go shopping, then drop off your "basket" at the church on any Tuesday or Thursday (8am-4pm) between March 2nd and March 18th. You can also shop online (i.e. Amazon, Walmart) and have groceries shipped directly to St. Matt’s. The grocery list of requested items can be found below.
Help pack baskets: Attend the packing event on Saturday, March 20th 9am-12pm by signing up for a shift on this website: SIGN UP TO PACK
Help deliver baskets: Food bags will be delivered to families via local schools the week of March 22nd. If you are able to deliver bags from St. Matt’s to one or more schools, please sign up here: SIGN UP TO DELIVER
