Join us on Wednesday, February 10, as we begin the season of Lent together at St. Matthew’s.
Ash Wednesday is a quiet, meaningful service of prayer and Holy Communion.
All are invited to receive ashes as a sign of reflection and renewal as we enter this sacred season.

How long are the services?
Services last about 45 minutes and include the imposition of ashes and Holy Communion.
What happens during an Ash Wednesday service?
During this service, scripture is read, prayers are offered, communion is celebrated, and you are invited to receive ashes as a sign of reflection and renewal.
What should I wear?
You won't be out of place whether you're dressed in a suit or wearing jeans. You'll see a little bit of everything at St. Matthew's, wear whatever makes you feel comfortable!
Where should I park?
Free parking is available to the back and side of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church at 201 E. Frederick Drive in Sterling, VA. Additional overflow parking is available, if needed, at the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, along Argonne Avenue, and across the street at Briar Patch Park. Clear signage and our welcome team will help direct you when you arrive.
I'm not Episcopalian, can I still receive Communion?
All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion.
What time are the services?
Our Ash Wednesday services are held at 6 AM, 12 PM, and 7 PM, with our 7 PM service also offered online on our Facebook and YouTube pages.
