Kids and Children’s Programs at St. Matthew’s

At St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, children are an important part of our community. Our Sunday programs help kids explore faith, build friendships, and discover God’s love in ways that are engaging, meaningful, and fun.
Families from Sterling and nearby communities like Ashburn, Herndon, and Leesburg join us each week. Whether your child participates in a Sunday program or stays in worship with you, children are always welcome here.
“Children and youth are not just the church of the future. They are the church today, and we make that a priority at St. Matthew’s.” — Rev. Rob Merola, Rector
Sunday Programs for Kids
On Sunday mornings, children can take part in age-appropriate programs designed to help them grow in faith through music, Bible stories, games, and hands-on activities.
Many families worship together, while others participate in our Faith Factory program during the 9:30 AM service.

Nursery Care
Newborn to Age 2
Nursery care is available during the 9:30 and 11:00 AM services. Our youngest members are cared for by attentive nursery attendants so parents can worship knowing their children are safe and well cared for.

Faith Factory
Ages 2 through Grade 5
Faith Factory is our Sunday morning children’s ministry during the 9:30 AM service. Children explore Bible stories, prayer, and faith through music, discussion, games, and creative activities in classrooms next to the parish hall.
Children in Worship
Children are always welcome in worship at St. Matthew’s, wiggles and all.
Some families choose to worship together, while others take part in Faith Factory during the 9:30 AM service.
You are always welcome to choose what works best for your family.
Nursery care is available at 9:30 and 11:00.

Events and Programs for Families
Throughout the year St. Matthew’s hosts events designed especially for kids and families. These gatherings bring our community together and help children experience faith in joyful and meaningful ways.
Parent Resources
We also offer resources to support families in the everyday work of parenting and faith formation.
